Cultural Information

Races

There are many different races on Umbraxia, each with it’s own particular racial culture. Furthermore, each culture has its own variants because of where they are located on the world and who they come in contact with. This guide is only to give you a quick background of the major races and their typical structures.

The information below is just for a quick reference. The subraces for each group are looked at more in depth on the linked page for the race itself.

  • Dragons: Large, physically imposing and magically talented creatures. There are numerous “colors” but they tend to be separated into the main groups below.
    • Chromatic: These dragons come in the colors of the rainbow, and tend toward a more evil disposition. There are numerous ones, but the predominant five are: Red, black, blue, green and white.
    • Metallic: The scales of these dragons resemble metal and tend toward good. The predominant five are: Gold, silver, copper, bronze and brass.
    • Gem: With scales the hue of gemstones, these dragons tend toward a more neutral moral outlook. The predominant five are: Crystal, amethyst, emerald, topaz and sapphire.
    • Other: This is the category of all other dragon types that are not easily grouped into one of the other groups. An example would be shadow dragons.
  • Humans: Humans are the predominant race on the world, but not by a large margin.
    • Viatore: While the Viatore accept any and all races who wish to become a member, so long as they accept and follow their code, they started off as and are still mostly made up of humans. Their beliefs and code grant them access to minor magical abilities.
    • Vikandyr: A race of warriors whose shamans can grant them temporary powers.
  • Elves: A race of long lived humanoids descended (a very long time ago) from the fae. Elves try to live in close contact with nature.
    • Highven: Highly cultured with a penchant for arcane magic. They build large, beautifully crafted cities incorporating nature into all the aspects.
    • Lowven: Low elves tend toward smaller townships surrounded by nature that they allow to freely flourish.
    • Wildven: Wild elves have a great degree of skill with druidic magic. Their settlements are very hard to find because of how well they blend into whatever natural environment they are located in.
    • Darkven: These elves have a skin color ranging from midnight black to shades of dark grey or darker purple. They make their homes in the caverns of the Underland, the twisting system of tunnels and caves under the ground.
  • Felidine: The cat like races of Umbraxia. They are frequently found near elven settlements.
    • Snowle: Snow leopard like appearance.
    • Pantheran: Panther like appearance.
    • Tigron: Tiger like appearance.
    • Leonic: Lion like appearance.
    • Lepardis: Leopard like appearance.
    • Cheetan: Cheetah like appearance.
    • Cloudle: Cloud leopard like appearance.
    • Cugon: Cougar or puma like appearance.
  • Canite: The dog like races of Umbraxia.
    • Wulven: Appearance similar to wolves.
    • Vulpen: Appearance similar to foxes.
    • Malulven: Appearance similar to African painted dogs.
  • Gryphlin: Humanoid gryphons who typically make their homes in mountain ranges.
  • Dwarves: An underground race excelling at mining and crafting.
  • Dracokith: Humanoid race descended from dragons. There are a very few born with wings.
  • Lizardfolk: Humanoid race created by dragons from various types of lizards.
  • Anthron: The catch all for the numerous other anthropomorphic races on Umbraxia. These ones are not as numerous as the felidine or canites.
    • Torton: Humanoid turtles.
