2nd Mari, 28 BE
Well, I suppose it’s it has been a few days since I wrote in this diary. Even though Mother and Lyvvi tell me I should do it every day. I just never have anything to write. Lessons with Lyvvi, visits with Mother, hoping Rinny and Si take me out with them or play some games with me. Not like I have an interesting life.
Princess or not.
Today… Today I did something fun though!
I was brought into a secret socei socit society. One to keep a secret from my brother!
Seems kinda kind of (if it is my diary, why is Lyvvi reading over my shoulder and telling me to write things correctly? Phhh… I am not putting a line through that or erasing it!) wrong to keep secrets from him, but I cannot wait to see his face with this one!
It started while I was on the floor…
Crown Princess Krystal Rain Alshain, Krysta to everyone she liked, sat on the floor in the main room of her suite, coloring in multiple coats of arms as a way to learn and memorize them. She sighed and picked up a green crayon, glancing down at the prancing silver stag she’d just finished coloring.
Now I just have to color in the green and black background. Not sure why Lyvvi thinks I’ll… Poo. Have to remember to even think without contractions. Anyway, not sure why she believes I will forget the Duchy of Kindraun’s flag. Hard to forget those people.
Besides, I do not forget any of them.
There was a gentle knock at the door to her suite.
She glanced up at Lyvvi and saw the dragoness giving her a huge grin, which she promptly returned.
That means it is someone or something she knows I will enjoy!
“Come in!”
She watched as the door opened and her mother, Queen Arissa, was wheeled in by Cirrus, her brother’s guardian dragon. The darkven queen held her arms out. “There is my little girl! May I have a hug?”
Krysta shot to her feet and flew into her mother’s arms, squeezing her for all she was worth. “Hi, mom! How are you feeling today?”
“Not too bad today. What are you working on?”
Krysta proceeded to hop back down and proudly show her finished artwork off to her mother and the other dragoness. When she picked up the one from Kindraun she frowned. “I am not finished with this one. I still need to do the background.”
Arissa looked at it and wrinkled her nose. “No big loss. Besides, you will have plenty of time to finish later. In the meantime, we came to discuss something very serious with you. Would you be willing to sit next to Lyvni and hear a request from us? It concerns your brother…Tamerin, not Adakkar. However, you will have to keep it a secret.”
Krysta tilted her head to the side and studied her mother. A secret from Rinny? I do not like that. But mother and Cirrus would never, ever, never do something to hurt him though. Must be a surprise. Hmm. Let into a surprise. She hopped up onto the couch next to Lyvvi. “Sure.”
Cirrus wheeled her mother closer and seated herself on the opposite couch. “This will make you a member of a sort of secret society. We are planning to do something very nice for Tamerin and he absolutely cannot find out. Can we count on you?”
Krysta regally inclined her head towards the dragoness. “Of course, Cirrus. So long as I believe it will not harm him, I promise to keep the secret.” I think that is official sounding enough.
Her mother and Cirrus grinned at each other. “Very well spoken, Your Highness,” her mother congratulated her. “We have decided to have a suit of armor crafted for your brother.”
“Why?”
“The reason is not important right now. What is important is whether or not you would like something of yours forged into the armor. Something for him to have so you are always close to him.”
Oh. It must take a long time to make the armor. They’re—they are—just getting ready for when he starts his military service. “Sure. Like what?”
“Something personal. Something you believe will always remind him of you, no matter where he is or what he is doing.”
Krysta looked around her room. Stuffed animal? No, it would never fit. And imagine how the other soldiers would laugh at a stuffy in his armor. Doll? No, same thing. Although the doll face sticking out of his armor could be scary. What else? Jewelry? No…he does not want to be shiny. I know! Krysta reached up and pulled her braid around in front of her and started to undo the blue cording wrapped through it.
“What are you doing?” Lyvni asked her.
“I am giving him the blue cording I always wear in my hair. It will remind him of all the fun me, him and Sirena have together. Plus, it has some of my hair stuck to it.” She proudly held up the cord, with the wisps of her hair still clinging to it.
Cirrus and her mother smiled at each other. The dragoness stood up, stepped closer and reached out to take it. “This is perfect, Krysta. I think your mother and I know exactly what to do with it. Especially if Sirena will give us one of hers…”
That’s That is how I became a member of a secret society earlier today. Which ended up being even better than I thought it would be because people who belong to this group get taken out for ice cream after joining!
And, it was delicious!
